Teams in the 2024/25 season:

At Norfolk Hoopstars, we pride ourselves on offering a talent pathway for basketball players who aspire to play at a higher level. Our programme begins at the grassroots level with local community hubs, then progresses to HBL and NYBL, and eventually provides opportunities to play in the Junior National League (NBL) and Norfolk Youth League. Our experienced coaching staff bring a wealth of knowledge, with many having played or coached at the collegiate and national level. The programme is designed to provide players with a professional experience, including strength and conditioning sessions, Veo video analysis, a rigorous preseason, and a competitive league schedule followed by post-season evaluations and workouts. We also offer educational workshops on nutrition, professional athlete preparation, and the talent pathway in England to ensure our players are well-rounded and prepared for the next phase of their careers. Join us at Norfolk Hoopstars and take your basketball skills to the next level.

Support Structures

At Norfolk Hoopstars, we believe in providing a comprehensive support system for our performance programme athletes. Our strength and conditioning program is designed to help our players reach their full potential, reducing the risk of injury and enhancing their overall performance. We utilise state-of-the-art technology, including Veo video analysis, allowing our coaching staff to evaluate and analyse match performance to provide targeted feedback to our players, identify areas of improvement and to highlight the strengths of each player's performance. Our educational workshops cover important topics such as nutrition, mental toughness, and the business of being a professional athlete, providing our athletes with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed both on and off the court. Our holistic approach to athlete development sets us apart and ensures that our athletes are well-prepared to compete at the highest levels.

Strength and Conditioning

At Norfolk Hoopstars, we take the physical conditioning of our players seriously, and that's why we offer strength and conditioning training as part of our performance programme. Our dedicated coach, Anthony Vincent, brings a wealth of experience to our team. He is currently a member of the University of East Anglia basketball team, playing at D3 NBL for the UEA Panthers. As an ex-Oaklands Wolves academy graduate and the 2022 GG 3x3 Summer tournament champion, Anthony's expertise is unparalleled.

Anthony's approach to strength and conditioning is tailored to each player's individual needs and abilities, ensuring that they are able to train safely and effectively while pushing themselves to reach their goals. With his guidance and expertise, our players can expect to see significant improvements in their physical fitness, agility, strength, and endurance, giving them the competitive edge they need to succeed at the highest levels of basketball.

Educational Workshops

At Norfolk Hoopstars, we believe in a holistic approach to player development, which is why we offer more than just basketball training. Our performance programme includes educational workshops designed to help our players not only on the court but also off the court. Our team values workshop emphasises the importance of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Our nutrition and sleep workshop educates our players on the impact of diet and rest on their performance. And our talent pathway workshop prepares our players for the next stage of their basketball journey.

We have some of the top coaches in the industry to lead these workshops, including current Southampton Assistant Head Coach and former player Matt Gill, with his experience in the world of professional sports, Matt is able to provide our players with valuable insight into what it takes to be a high-level athlete. We also have Under-20 GB basketball Assistant Coach Troy Culley who delivers our player development framework. Troy's expertise in developing players is invaluable to our program, as he is able to provide our athletes with the tools they need to improve their skills and reach their full potential. These workshops are designed to provide our players with the knowledge and skills they need to excel both on and off the court. We believe that a well-rounded athlete is not only physically strong but also mentally strong, and our workshops help our players to develop both aspects of their game.
